China Sends Genocidal Uyghur Region Police Leader to Hong Kong

Chinese state media announced on Monday that Maj. Gen. Peng Jingtang of the People’s Armed Police Force (PAP) has been named as the new commander of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) garrison in Hong Kong. Peng’s experience “fighting terorrism in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region” was ominously touted as one of his major qualifications.

Kazakhstan Chaos: Reports of Riots, Beheadings as Russia Sends Troops

Kazakhstan’s fuel riots escalated dramatically on Wednesday, as dozens of police and protesters were killed in street battles across western Kazakhstan and Almaty, the nation’s largest city. Russian state media claimed one of the 12 law enforcement officers killed was beheaded. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent paratroopers into Kazakhstan on Thursday to restore order.

Al Jazeera Bureau Chief Arrested in Sudan

Al-Musalmi Al-Kabbashi, Sudan bureau chief for Al Jazeera News, was arrested on Sunday by Sudanese security forces who raided his home in Khartoum. The military junta currently ruling Sudan did not give any reason for his arrest.
