NHTSA to Launch Investogation into Tesla Autopilot System

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has reportedly launched an investigation into Elon Musk’s Tesla over its driver-assistance system known as “Autopilot” following a series of crashes. The agency states that since 2018, there have been 11 crashes in which a Tesla with Autopilot engaged crashed into emergency vehicles such as fire trucks.

Federal Study Said Tesla Autopilot Reduces Crashes by 40% – but Report Shows Increase of 60%

A new analysis of data from crashes involving Tesla vehicles has reportedly refuted claims previously made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the safety of Elon Musk’s electric vehicles. The Analysis finds that rather than the Tesla autopilot feature reducing airbag deployments by 40 percent as the government claims, it actually resulted in nearly a 60 percent increase in airbag deployments.
