21K Migrants Apprehended in One Texas Border Sector Last Week

Migrant apprehensions in the Rio Grande Valley Sector continue to rise as Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 21,000 migrants during the last week. The announcement by sector officials follows a tweet reporting the apprehension of more than 20,000 migrants the week before.

Migrants Smuggled in Trucks, RV in Most Remote Southern Border Sector

Big Bend Sector Border Patrol agents continue to find human smugglers packing migrants into dangerously overloaded vehicles that are ripe for the spread of COVID-19. The Big Bend Sector covers some of the most remote areas of the southwestern border including 517 border miles, 77 Texas counties, and the entire state of Oklahoma.

Migrant Surge Continues in West Texas Border Town

A law enforcement source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports more than 600 migrants were apprehended in the Del Rio Sector on Friday. The flurry of activity began in the morning hours when nearly 400 migrants, mostly Haitian nationals were apprehended in Del Rio, Texas.

Migrants Found in Cargo Boxes near Border in Texas

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents disrupted a human smuggling attempt involving a rental box truck. The agents at an interior immigration checkpoint north of Laredo, Texas, found migrants hiding in boxes inside the locked cargo area.

Border Patrol Sounds COVID Alarm as 40 Agents Test Positive in Texas Sector

More than 40 Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents tested positive for COVID-19 recently, including five who became hospitalized, Chief Patrol Agent Brian Hastings told a local radio station. The chief’s comments come as officials report a 900 percent increase in July for the number of migrants testing positive.
