The Phoenix Police Department is searching for a “serial shooter” whom they believe has been striking periodically at night in a low-income neighborhood since March 17.

Phoenix PD has not rejected the option that there could more than one shooter, but as of now, has released a composite drawing of only one suspect–“a light-skinned Latino or white man in his 20s.”

According to CNN, “The shootings began March 17, when a 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded while walking on the street at 11:30 p.m.” A 21-year-0ld was shot and wounded on March 18. Then two were killed in April and two more in June.

A separate incident in June left three more dead in the same Maryvale neighborhood where the other attacks occurred.

“Many of the victims [have been] shot while standing outside their homes.”

Law enforcement analyst Art Roderick believes the gunman is quite familiar with the Maryvale neighborhood and drives to where he knows someone may be standing or people may congregate. Roderick said, “So he drives into these neighborhoods, sees someone standing outside. The victim’s age range–it’s from teenagers to the elderly, male, female. So he’s just picking targets of opportunity, random individuals outside their homes at night.”

There has not been a shooting since June 12, and the gap has led Phoenix PD to urge citizens to come forward and tell what they know. Police warn they may not catch the individual unless someone talks.

The Maricopa County District Attorney’s office and law enforcement agencies together are offering $30,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspected shooter.

Phoenix PD dealt with a threat of a freeway shooter during much of 2015. Those shootings ended following the apprehension of a suspect on September 18.
