Bomani Jones: Cam Newton Saying the Country Is Past Racism a ‘Bald-Headed Lie’

During Monday’s “Highly Questionable” on ESPN, co-host Bomani Jones reacted to the Cam Newton GQ article, where the Carolina Panthers star quarterback said the United States as a nation is beyond racism by calling it a “bald-headed lie.”

Jones’ co-host Dan Le Betard first speculated that Newton was not “much in the mood” for the interview, and Jones agreed, saying he does not believe Newton believes the country is beyond racism.

“Where he loses me, though, is he said, ‘I think this country is past that.’ A ‘no comment’ is one thing. That’s a bald-headed lie, and you can’t say stuff like that no matter whether you want to talk to the reporter or not,” said Jones.
