LAREDO, Texas — Long lines began forming at the International Bridge as shoppers and visitors entered the United States for the first time in nearly 18 months as the ban on non-essential travel at land borders ended Monday. Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents encountered a large group of South American migrants after they illegally entered the U.S. near Eagle Pass, Texas. Large group crossings in this sector forced Biden administration officials to reopen the infamous outdoor detention area under the Del Rio International Bridge.

The Biden Administration enacted a new release policy for migrants which will grant parole status in the two busiest southwest Border Patrol sectors. The program, known as Parole + ATD (Alternatives to Detention), will allow agents in the Rio Grande Valley and Del Rio to swiftly release migrants and divert them from overcrowded detention centers.

Human Smugglers Lead Texas Police on 125 MPH Chase Away from Border

After receiving intelligence concerning a convoy of six suspicious vehicles spotted near the Mexican border, Kerr County Sheriff’s Office (KSCO) Special Investigators prepared to intercept the vehicles suspecting they might be involved in a migrant smuggling operation. Four of the suspected vehicles were later found and a 40-mile pursuit reaching speeds in excess of 125 miles per hour ensued.

Border Patrol agents arrested nearly 200 migrants shortly after they crossed the Rio Grande in Normandy, Texas. EAGLE PASS, Texas — In separate events, local Border Patrol Agents and their Brackettville-stationed colleagues apprehended migrants from two counties designated by the Department of Homeland Security as “special interest.” The arrests triggered immediate reporting to DHS headquarters. According to a source within Customs and Border Protection, the incidents occurred on Monday and involved one group of 13 Eritreans and a separate family of three from Uzbekistan.

EAGLE PASS, Texas — Trucks arrived in the early morning hours Tuesday hauling dozens of shipping containers to the banks of the Rio Grande. Governor Greg Abbott is using the re-purposed containers to serve as a makeshift border barrier in preparation for the latest migrant caravan. As locals looked on from both sides of the border, Texas authorities worked with contract crews to install the containers.
