Texas Migrant Bridge Camp Empty — Some Moved to Other U.S. Border Sectors

DEL RIO, Texas — Border Patrol officials cleared the last remaining migrants on Friday from the infamous camp under the Del Rio International Bridge. At one point earlier this week, the Biden administration detained as many as 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants in squalid conditions under the bridge. Since then, officials moved the migrants to other detention facilities, to Haiti on Title 42 repatriation flights, allowed some to self-deport to Mexico, or released some into the United States with notices to report to an immigration office for expedited removal hearings.

DHS Reports Only 1400 Haitian Migrant Removals from U.S. This Week

Department of Homeland Security officials report the removal of only 1,401 Haitian migrants via repatriation flights since Sunday. On Sunday, the population of the Del Rio Migrant Camp peaked at more than 15,000. Roughly 5,000 remain in the camp as of Thursday morning.

DEL RIO, Texas — Photos and video show the massive effort being executed by the State of Texas to stop or reduce the record-setting border crossings taking place in the Del Rio Border Patrol Sector. The sector rose to the second busiest along the southern border in recent months and garnered national attention.

Texas Forms Miles-Long Border Barrier from State Troopers and National Guard Vehicles

DEL RIO, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety and National Guard to use vehicles to create a miles-long barrier to stop the flow of mostly Haitian migrants from crossing the Rio Grande. The vehicle barrier, along with the recently constructed Texas border fencing, effectively blocked the illegal crossings and enabled Border Patrol officials to reduce the population of the Del Rio migrant encampment.

Migrant Camp Drops to 9100 After Texas Closes Border Crossing in Del Rio

DEL RIO, Texas — The population of the migrant camp under the local international bridge fell to just over 9,100 after Texas DPS troopers and National Guardsmen effectively closed border crossing points from Mexico. State officials told Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday they have effectively closed the crossings near the migrant camp.

DHS Steps Up Removal Flights for Haitian Migrants at Border Bridge Camp

DEL RIO, Texas — Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Monday that his agency is stepping up the number of daily flights to remove Haitian migrants from the makeshift camp along the Rio Grande border with Mexico. The secretary stressed that irregular migration is not safe and will not be tolerated.

U.S., Mexico Begin Removal Flights for Haitian Migrants

The United States and Mexico began flying Haitian migrants back to their home country on Sunday afternoon. The flights took hundreds of migrants who had previously been detained at the makeshift migrant camp in Del Rio, Texas, back to Haiti.

49 Migrants Found Locked in Tractor-Trailer at West Texas Border Patrol Checkpoint

Big Bend Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 49 migrants found locked inside a tractor-trailer at the Interstate 10 immigration checkpoint. The apprehension at the checkpoint comes on the same day Border Patrol officials closed similar checkpoints in the Del Rio Sector. Officials have subsequently closed the Laredo Sector checkpoints in an attempt to divert additional resources to the humanitarian crisis in Del Rio, Texas.

Feds Ask Texas to Help with Del Rio Bridge Detention Camp Crisis

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials requested help from Texas officials to stem the growing humanitarian crisis in Del Rio where more than 9,000 migrants are detained under a bridge. Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded by sending additional DPS troopers and National Guard units to “shut down six ports of entry” and “stop the caravans from overrunning our state.”

Migrant Apprehensions in Del Rio Sector Up 190 Percent Since Biden Took Office

The apprehension of migrants in the Del Rio Sector rose more than 190 percent since President Joe Biden took office in January. The sector is now the scene of explosive numbers of mostly Haitian migrants illegally crossing the border in the region with almost no physical barriers to entry.

REPORT: Texas Border Wall Construction May Begin This Week
